_{[Somewhere in the forest, along the path that leads from the village to the lake, lies a nondescript figure in faded blue clothes. Seems like he was just dumped there, really, as his right arm looks like it's bent at a weird angle. Anyway, Genis is unconscious, but not mortally wounded, as there don't seem to be any gaping wounds on him aside from a couple of cuts and scratches. Curiously, however, he's covered with quite a number of dark bruises.

He doesn't move, save for the occasional shiver from the cold, and the unsteady rise and fall of his chest in jagged, shallow breaths.]}

[Now here's something more unexpected. Since Albert has been trying to get Raine to relax a little by having them go out riding periodically on his horse since Genis's disappearance, it is this particular trip through the forest that inadvertently brings them close to this location.]

Albert -- there's someone there.

_{[Genis is situated to the side of the path, so it's likely that Raine doesn't notice him completely unless she looks hard.]}

[Albert directs the horse further down the path, looking around for whatever it was that Raine had noticed.]

What did you see? You will have to point it out, Raine.

About twenty feet, now, to the left.

[Astrid trots down the path further, and then to the left as Raine had directed.]

...There, that's--

[As soon as they get close enough, Raine pales, nearly losing her balance on the horse.]

That's -- Genis --

[Thankfully, Albert's arms are already around Raine to hold the bridle, so he helps Raine stay on the horse as he they draw closer. When Astrid comes to a stop, he is the first to dismount before offering his hand to help the professor down.]

[It's all well and good really, since part of her would have attempted to jump off then and there. But she takes a few breaths in an attempt to calm herself, reaching for Albert's hand so he can help her down safely.]

Today is... I suppose I shouldn't be this surprised.

...Is there something about today? [Albert frowns, not recognizing any particular significance about the day.

But it's only a fleeting question. They have more important issues to address.]

Exactly a year since I was first taken here. [When he lets her down, she quickly moves to kneel near Genis's side, checking his injuries]

_{[Genis flinches slightly, as Raine checks on him; but doesn't stir. Strange, seeing as his cuts are minor at best]}

[She'll focus on healing those, though she's worried when he doesn't wake up.] Genis?

_{[He relaxes slightly, as the healing begins to take effect on him. He blinks his eyes open blearily-- ]

Raine..?}

You're awake.. good. [She strokes his hair out of his eyes.] You're safe now.

_{[He moves to sit up-- is the world supposed to spin like that? Okay, not sitting up for now.]

... M'sorry.}

Don't. It's not your fault.

[She casts another healing spell on him]

_{-- Wasn't careful, like you told me to be. [he tries sitting up again, as she continues to heal him]}

Shh. Don't worry about that now. [She puts her hand on his forehead again]

_{[And his eyes flutter shut as she does so. Why is he so sleepy.]

... How'd you find me?}

We were out for a ride, and found you here. [She shakes her head a little]

We're going to take you home now.

_{A ride...? On what? [He's trying to stand now - not a good idea, but he'll try it anyway.]}

Genis, not so fast -- you don't have your bearings! [She quickly moves to support him]

On -- Astrid. She's the horse. You remember, don't you?

_{[He's still a bit unsteady, so he gratefully leans on Raine for the moment.]

Horse? What- [He blinks when he sees Astrid. Hasn't seen her before today, after all. Oh, and look- it's an Albert!] Oh, hi Albert.}

Now don't strain yourself. Let me help you. [She also looks towards Albert.]

Welcome back, Genis. [Albert nods slightly, glancing at Raine after he's acknowledged the returned boy.] Shall we get you home? We should get you back to the village promptly.
