They've brought Mithos here. It's been two years since everything happened, but - [his pen trails off here, apparently not certain as to what to say next] ... I guess I didn't expect him to show up. Up til now I didn't realize that the Malnosso could and would bring people like him here, but I guess that was just me being complacent.

[Genis is in his room, supposedly doing his homework like a good student. His pen hovers over his journal now and then; he seems to be a little out of it. There's a lot on his mind.]

A little over a year ago, there was an experiment. It was actually the first experiment I witnessed while being brought here... there was a plague, an illness that affected nearly everyone here. It was impossible to cure with any techniques... there were two strains to the illness.

The first strain... people were able to recover on their own after a week. The second... was deadly. Those people were brought back, but ... they were given a penalty after their revival.

[He nods.] Right. The death penalties. Something about - you can't exactly die, since they bring you back anyway; but they take something from you as payment for doing so. The guide mentioned it, I think...?

But, an experiment that caused - a plague...?

You said you witnessed it though; so I guess that means you were all right, right...?

Yes, that's correct.

[She pauses for a moment] ... No, I was also affected. It wasn't right away, so it was hard to determine whether or not it was contagious, or if I simply caught it on my own.

A... few memories. The largest gap is from before Lloyd went to face Kratos at Origin's seal up until the time I was brought here. Though it feels like others might have slipped away as well.

[He's silent for a few moments, before -]

... Are you going to have it - fixed? By that John guy?

I... want to. But it's not really pressing, is it? We have plans now, and... I suppose I am nervous, even after all this time of communicating with them.

But... regardless of that, I wanted you to know. So that when... or if, it does happen, you would be aware.

[He looks down, face grim] I still don't trust them; that guy Simon knows - Zack, was it? - didn't he...?

I'd be scared, too.

It's a case by case basis. I'm sure Zack's illness is a side effect of having what was taken from him being restored. Though I honestly don't know any of the specifics of that. Or what side-effects I could expect, should I go through with it...

[She's not looking up either, so it's moot.]

You deserved to know. I'm sorry for keeping it from you for so long.

[He looks up sharply]

But what if - what if he makes a mistake? What's going to happen, then? If they do anything that'll hurt you-...

[He sighs a little, and looks back down]

It's - alright. It's not something you bring up in everyday conversation, anyway.

I... don't know. Anything is possible -- that's why I haven't agreed to anything right away. It's not pressing, but the option is there.

No, I suppose it isn't. But that's why I haven't... spoken much of things back home with you.

In the end, it's all just - further experiments. [He sighs] But I guess I understand why you'd want it, anyway. And yeah, it isn't pressing. But - I still don't trust them with this...

[But she still has her head lowered, feeling guilty considering her other near death experiences that she treated so lightly.]

I'm not a kid Raine. At least, I'm two years older than you remember, anyway.

I know. I simply... forget, sometimes.

[She ruffles his hair a little.]
