[There's a delicious aroma wafting out of the windows of House 42. Whatever it is, it smells fantastic. Curiously peeking into the windows won't help you find out what it is, though, as the chef seems to have fallen asleep on the kitchen table, exhausted. Apparently the last event tuckered him out and it's only catching up to him now.]

Between the experiments and cycles, we're kept fairly busy. It's been awhile since we made progress in learning about things outside of the village.

It's hard to take advantage of the few chances we get, though.

We simply have to outline our goals and stick to them within... a reasonable time frame.

Considering how long it takes to get out to the desert... [He shakes his head, trailing off so he can instead focus on the food.]

[Yes, food, let's focus on that. We can't let Genis' hard work go to waste.]

I'm sure we'll manage something. [She starts to focus on the food as well. Though seems a little distracted now that the tone of the conversation's started to change.]

[Oh, Raine. You and your work-focused mind. Such a downer.

Genis' food is delicious as usual.]

[Yeah, way to kill the mood, Raine. In front of a guest, too. You should be ashamed.

But boy, this sure is good curry. Yuan hasn't eaten this good in years.]

[Hey. Hey. The shift in topic wasn't her fault. Besides, she's more preoccupied by a certain upcoming death penalty removing session.

The food is good, of course. It's a nice little dinner. Why don't they do this more often, again? Raine takes a sip of her lemonade.]

It's nice to have a fairly normal meal after that last experiment.

[Yuan was a bit preoccupied with himself during that experiment. He doesn't know what happened with Raine and Albert.]

... Indeed.

The last experiment was very ... inconvenient with how it interfered with normal, every day things. [She shakes her head a little.] Were you affected at all, Yuan?

Inconvenient is an understatement. [Albert comments dryly before looking at Yuan.]

[Oh boy. Does he even want to know?]

Of course. While one of the individuals I turned into was only an annoyance, my other form was... a bit more troublesome.

[She shakes her head slightly at Albert before turning back towards Yuan. It was an understatement for a reason, after all]

Is that so? I wonder why some people had more than one form... one was more than enough.

[He looks at Raine wryly.] Perhaps some people have hatreds that manifest easier than others. Or some simply hate one thing that much.

For that matter, some people weren't affected at all, despite the fact that they hate something or someone.

I wasn't affected this time, actually. Good thing, too, since things were hectic enough at this house.

[She just shakes her head at Albert again.]

Well... having a handful of people not being affected at all is common during experiments. Either it could be some form of control group that is randomly selected for the duration of the shift, or the shift itself doesn't work. Assuming of course that it is the theory behind these experiments.

Regardless it was just ridiculous, all around. We should be glad it wasn't one of those longer ones. It could have easily been.

[Albert is now looking at Raine. No glaring at the dinner table, pffft.]

[Oh dear, internal strife. Yuan will wisely stay out of that and focus on the curry again.]

[Oh no, not that look.]

... Hm?

Despite your dismissal, Professor, it should be noted that most people can certainly learn from some of these psychological experiments.

Learning is not something entirely confined to schooling. However, it doesn't make the experiments any less of a nuisance. Especially the ones we've had over these past few months.

We haven't had any experiments since April. So I believe either you are misstating, Professor, or this experiment was simply that "ridiculous" to you.
